Who we are
Sailing Log is published by DNADev ("we", "us"), reachable at [email protected].
What leaves your device
The only data that ever leaves your phone is:
- Your email and name from Google when (and only when) you tap "Continue with Google" to sign in. Used solely to identify your purchase across devices.
- Coordinates you save, sent to OpenStreetMap only when you tap the optional reverse-geocode button to look up a bay or beach name.
- Map tiles requested from OpenStreetMap when you open the track map.
- Purchase information processed by Google Play Billing (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS) when you buy the lifetime unlock.
You can delete all local data at any time from Settings → Reset All Data.
What we collect
From Google sign-in (only if you tap "Continue with Google")
- Your email address, display name and profile picture URL, returned in the OAuth ID token.
- Used only to label the account inside the app and to restore the lifetime unlock on other devices you sign in with.
On your device (never sent to us)
- Trips you create, crew, contacts, costs, log entries (incl. GPS coordinates), photos you attach, saved spots, settings.
- Optionally, a copy of your data when you tap Export JSON — the file is shared with whichever app you choose (email, Files, WhatsApp, Drive, …). We have no copy.

What the app does not collect
- No background location.
- The app contains no analytics and no crash reporters. (If we ever add one, this policy is updated first.) The only place we measure anything is the website — see "Our website" below.
- No advertising IDs, no third-party SDKs other than the Google identity and billing libraries.

Our website (sailinglogapp.com)
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics — a privacy-preserving, cookieless analytics service that collects only aggregate, anonymous traffic statistics (page views, referring site, country, device type, page-load speed). It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device, does not track you across other websites, and cannot identify you as an individual. No advertising networks are involved.
The app itself contains no analytics of any kind — this measurement happens only when you visit the website in a browser.
How long we keep data
- On your device — until you delete it (Settings → Reset All Data, or uninstall the app).
- Server-side at Google / OSM — subject to those providers' policies. We store nothing ourselves.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
- Sign out at any time (Settings → Account → Sign out).
- Wipe all local data (Settings → Reset All Data — irreversible).
- Request that we delete the email / name we received from Google by writing to [email protected]. Because we don't store it server-side, this is usually immediate.
- Restore a previous purchase on a new device by signing in with the same Google account.
Changes
If we materially change this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date and bump the in-app version. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy.
